IB PAS and the Doctoral School at the Festival of Universities – Małopolska of the future

On December 4 and 5, 2024, the first edition of the "University Festival – Małopolska of the Future" took place in Kraków. The idea of the organizer – the Małopolska Voivodship – was to create a space that would allow future students and doctoral students to get acquainted with the rich scientific offer of leading universities and research institutions in Małopolska, to meet with experts from various fields of science and to talk to representatives of the labour market and education institutions.

More than 80 interactive exhibition stands were prepared for visitors in several thematic zones: engineering and technology, innovations and technologies, medicine and health, society and economy, and food, environment, agriculture and tourism, as well as industry skills centres and labour market and education institutions. The scientific and educational offer was presented by 17 universities from Małopolska, 5 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (including our Institute), 2 institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network and 10 labour market and education institutions. There were also thematic workshops and scientific shows conducted by students and university scientific groups.

Scientists from our Institute presented, among others, the effects of cooperation with the company "Alcor" in the field of improving the quality of the urban environment and water (in the "Innovations and Technologies" zone), as well as issues in the field of ecology, plant ecophysiology, microbiology and archaeobotany (in the "Society and Economy" zone).

During the Festival, the offer of the Doctoral School of Natural and Agricultural Sciences run by our Institute (IB PAS) together with the Institute of Plant Physiology PAS, the Institute of Nature Conservation PAS, the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals PAS and the National Research Institute of Animal Production was also presented.
